Ridgewood Police Cruiser Strikes Civilian's Car

Police said both cars were damaged, but no one was injured.

RIDGEWOOD, NJ — No injures were reported Monday after a police patrol car collided with another car on Ackerman Avenue.

According to a statement from Ridgewood Police Chief Jacqueline Luthcke, the patrol car was responding to a call when the crash happened.

Luthcke told Patch in an email the patrol car was driving south on Ackerman Avenue with its lights and siren on Monday morning.

The patrol car approached another vehicle, which was also driving south on Ackerman Avenue, and began to pass on its left.

Luthcke said the driver of the other car, in an attempt to get out of the way of the police car, made a left into a drive way.

Upon turning, the car was struck by the patrol car.

The patrol car had heavy front-end damage, and the other car had heavy damage on its rear drivers side wheel and panel.

No one was injured in the crash.
