VIDEO: Ridgewood's Ali Stroker Joins Cast of Glee Project

A Ridgewood native has been selected as a cast member for the second season of hit TV show The Glee Project with hopes of landing a prominent role on Glee.

According to The Oxygen Network, which airs the offshoot audition/reality show, a diverse pool of 14 cast members are vying for the opportunity to star on Glee.

One of those talents is none other than Ali Stroker, a village native who has been . The singer and actress beat out thousands at her New York audition.

The show's calling card is promoting talent from diversity, and Stroker's story is certainly unique.

A spinal cord injury she suffered as a two-year-old in a car accident left her paralyzed from the chest down and wheelchair bound. But her zest for adventure and dedication to the craft is unparalelled.

Stroker attended NYU's Tisch School of the Arts after graduating from . After a brief affair with surf and sun in L.A., Stroker returned to New York and performs in various stage theater shows throughout the city.

"I think The Glee Project is the opportunity of a lifetime," Stroker said in her promo interview [the video can be seen above], adding she's been hooked since it premiered.

The exposure the show brings is a big draw.

"The world gets to see you as a person and as a performer," she said in the promotional interview. "Not many television shows and the kinds of things I was auditioning for allows you to bring your story...I think this is an amazing ticket to my dream."

Glee executive producers Ryan Murphy and Dante Di Loreto have returned to produce the second season of The Glee Project, according to the network.

The Glee Project's second season kicks off this summer for an 11-week run.
