RIDGEWOOD, NJ — A village student has received a corporate-sponsored Merit Scholarship, the National Merit Scholarship Corporation announced Tuesday. Caleb Shi is a student at Bergen County Academies in Hackensack. He received the National Merit Mary E. Beyerle Scholarship. The Mary E. Beyerle Scholarship is awarded to students from Maryland, New Jersey, or Pennsylvania through a trust. It is one of 1,000 scholarships awarded to National Merit Scholarship finalists that are financed by 160 companies, businesses, and foundations. Winners are selected based on the academic achievements, extracurricular accomplishments, and potential for success in college.
