Ridgewood Theft Blotter

Woman sells fake diamond; Jewelry stolen from residence; Whole Foods employee's car was entered; Offices of two businesses were entered.

The following are reports of alleged thefts, according to the Ridgewood Police Department:

  • On Monday, Dec. 1, the owner of a jewelry store in Ridgewood reported an incident that had occurred on Nov. 29 when a woman entered the store and offered a loose diamond for sale. Upon being appraised, a price was agreed upon and the diamond was purchased. After the sale, it was determined that the diamond was not real. Attempts to contact the woman failed and it was determined that she had provided a false name, address and telephone number.
  • On Dec. 12, a Hillcrest Road resident reported that while they were away, a piece of jewelry had been stolen.
  • On Dec. 12, an employee at Whole Foods reported that her vehicle had been entered and items had been taken. The matter is under investigation by the Ridgewood Detective Bureau.
  • On Dec. 15, two business owners on Dayton Street reported their offices were entered over the weekend.

The incidents are under investigation by the Ridgewood Detective Bureau. The latest incident, on Dec. 15, is also being investigated by the Bergen County Sheriff Department BCI.
