Second Most Expensive Place In NJ To Buy Home Is In This Bergen County Town: Report

The median home prices in one Bergen County town have ranked in the top 100 in the country, a new list says.

BERGEN COUNTY, NJ — Do you want to live in a New Jersey town overlooking the Hudson River, with plenty of space for hiking? You'll have to pay.

A new list ranking the highest home values in the country, using Zillow listings, has placed Alpine in the top two towns in New Jersey and number 51 nationally.

The new list from NJ.com was created using Zillow data from February, which showed that the typical home value in New Jersey is $503,432 — higher than the nationwide value of $347,716, NJ.com reported.

Alpine's median listed home was $2.8 million, the report said.

The three New Jersey ZIP codes with the highest typical home value as of February were Deal in Monmouth County at $3,443,833, Alpine, and Avalon in Cape May County, said the report.

The other towns making the list are Stone Harbor, Short Hills, Allenhurst, Sea Girt, and Mantoloking.

The top three towns with the highest typical home value countrywide are Atherton in San Mateo County, Calif., Miami Beach in Miami-Dade County, and Beverly Hills in Los Angeles County. The typical homes are $7.1 million, $5.8 million and $5.3 million, respectively, said NJ.com.
