'Super Science Saturday' Returns to Ridgewood Feb. 28
"Since 1988, this event, the greatest science extravaganza in Northern NJ, has offered a fun-filled, informative day for all ages."

Press release:
Life wouldn’t be possible without chemistry. So chemistry, the branch of science dealing with how matter interacts, combines and changes, will be a prominent theme for Super Science Saturday 2015.
This celebration of science and technology in our daily lives returns for its 27th year on Saturday, Feb. 28, from 9 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at Ridgewood High School, located at 627 East Ridgewood Avenue. Super Science Saturday is one week earlier than usual this year. Admission is free.

Scientists from the famed Franklin Institute of Philadelphia will present one of the day’s featured shows: “Chemistry” that demonstrates everything from substances that explode (safely) to chemical “detective work” performed by laboratory scientists. This half-hour show starts at 9:30 a.m. and is presented by former Ridgewood High School graduate Sarah Rowley.
That leaves plenty of time to explore the many science and technology subjects at Super Science Saturday. Since 1988, this event, the greatest science extravaganza in Northern New Jersey, has offered a fun-filled, informative day for science and technology enthusiasts of all ages.

Super Science Saturday also encourages students from elementary through high school to exhibit their experiments in the Hall of Science. Students from any school district are invited to sign up and exhibit at www.supersciencesaturday.org. Super Science Saturday is a non-competitive event designed so that students of all ages can demonstrate their “inner scientist.”
The event also has interactive exhibits from dozens of professional and amateur scientists, including 3D printers, solar telescopes, drones, robotics, the environment, health and medicine, physics and the technology used by our police, fire and EMT professionals.
The day includes a new favorite, a 27-foot egg drop contest, and ever-popular traditions, such as “The Great Paper Airplane Contest,” finding out how things work at the “tinker table” and model rocket launches on the high school football field at 1:20 p.m.
Super Science Saturday has been underwritten for the sixth-consecutive year by The Valley Hospital, which provides a wide range of state-of-the-art medical, emergency and preventive care in Northern New Jersey, and The Foundation, which supports innovative learning programs and enrichment activities for Ridgewood Public Schools.
Students looking for ideas on science presentations can get help at The Ridgewood Public Library, where library staff have set aside age-appropriate materials on science and technology experiments in the Youth Section, or go to the “Kid Zone” section of the Super Science Saturday Web site, www.supersciencesaturday.org, for many excellent sources of project ideas.
