In Swift-Studded Ceremony, Bergen County Boy Jack Antonoff Gets Married

BERGEN COUNTY, NJ — While many of the headlines about musician and producer Jack Antonoff's wedding over the weekend focused on attendee Taylor Swift, the stars of the show — Antonoff and new wife, actress Margaret Qualley — are the ones with the New Jersey and New York City area roots.

Antonoff, who's served as vocalist and instrumentalist on a number of popular songs, grew up in Woodcliff Lake and New Milford, in Bergen County. His parents, Rick and Shira, own homes in Woodcliff Lake and in Long Beach Island, where Antonoff got married on Saturday to Qualley, an actress who's the daughter of Andie McDowell.

While Antonoff has been behind the scenes as producer on albums by Swift, Lana Del Rey, and others, he first gained visibility as lead guitarist for the group Fun. The band had a hit with "We Are Young" in 2012. Antonoff then fronted the band Bleachers.

With Taylor Swift pulling in multi-milliondollar ticket sales for her Eras Tour concert this summer, she attracted much attention over the weekend when she attended the couple's rehearsal dinner on Friday night at Black Whale Bar & Fish House, and then at the ceremony on Saturday.

Jersey Roots

Antonoff, 39, attended Solomon Schechter Day School of Bergen County for elementary school, then commuted to New York City to attend the Professional Children's School for high school.

The musician grew up with three siblings. His sister Sarah died of brain cancer at age 13, something that has influenced his music, he has said in interviews.

He has praised New Jersey as a great state for appreciating music, even starting a music festival in Asbury Park in 2015.

Qualley, 28, grew up in Montana and North Carolina, then attended the Professional Children's School in New York City for a time, although her time there did not overlap with Antonoff's.

Antonoff and Qualley became engaged last year. Previously, he was linked to actress and writer Lena Dunham, who herself was married in 2021. Qualley has dated Pete Davidson, Shia LaBoeuf, and several other celebrities.

At the ceremony, according to Page Six, Taylor Swift gave a humorous roast of the couple.
