Police Want Your Expired, Unused Prescription Drugs

Village participating in disposal program on Saturday to keep prescriptions out of the wrong hands

For the third straight year, Ridgewood Police will be holding DEA-sponsored "Take Back Prescription Drugs Day," an initiative to clear expired or unused prescription medications from village cabinets, streets and streams.

Those with expired or unused prescription meds are encouraged to take the bottles to the Ridgewood Police Department on Saturday, Oct. 29 between 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at its lobby on the second floor of Village Hall. A clearly marked box will be designated for all disposal.

No needles or syringes of any type will be accepted. The village will not be checking IDs or issuing any tickets for illegal prescriptions. The goal, police say, is simply to get them off the street and into safe hands.
