Tenafly Man Charged With Abusing Minor: Bergen County Prosecutor

A Tenafly man has been arrested after allegedly physically abusing a child under 16, Bergen County prosecutors said.

HACKENSACK, NJ — A Tenafly man has been accused of physically assaulting a child under 16, prosecutors said.

Chen Chu "Teddy" Koo, 50, was arrested on Monday, the day after the alleged incident occurred, said the Bergen County Prosecutor's Office.

Prosecutors said that on Monday, Sept. 30, 2024, the New Jersey Division of Child Protection and Permanency contacted the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office Special Victims Unit regarding the alleged physical abuse of a child under the age of 16.

An investigation by the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office and the Tenafly Police Department determined that he "physically assaulted a child under the age of 16 in the Borough of Tenafly on Sunday, Sept. 29, 2024," prosecutors said in a release.

Koo was arrested in Paramus and charged with one count of second-degree endangering the welfare of a child and one count of fourth-degree child abuse, prosecutors said.

He was taken to the Bergen County Jail to await a first appearance in Bergen County Superior Court in Hackensack, prosecutors said.
