Thursday: BOE Candidate's Night
The two incumbents and challenger will be meeting at the Education Center to give their pitch to voters

1) Incumbents Sheila Brogan, Laurie Goodman will take on challenger Christina Krauss for the two open school board seats. On Thursday night at 7:30 p.m. at the Education Center, the three will be answering prompts and giving the public a taste of who they are and where they stand on education issues. The event is moderated by the League of Women Voters.
2) Lynden B. Miller, a public garden designer in New York City and the director of The Conservatory Garden in Central Park, will be leading a discussion and signing copies of her book at this Women Gardners of Ridgewood-sponsored event at 12:30 p.m. at West Side Presbyterian.
3) The LSHSA will be holding a fundraiser at Lord & Taylor on Thursday. This fundraiser allows the LSHSA to buy the special services teachers and therapists items along with funding "Teacher of the Year" awards and two Special RHS scholarships for graduating seniors.

4) The village council entertained a brief discussion on Tarvin Realtor's request to have Title 39 status, which would bring police to the private lot to enforce illegal parking. Some in attendance, notably resident Boyd Loving, said it would be a poor decision because it would force police to spend time on the matter when it's a private property issue and taxpayers shouldn't pay for such provocations. Deputy Mayor Tom Riche also expressed hesitation with the discussion item, saying it could lead to other businesses making the same request, which could drain the police force's resources. The council will ask Police Chief John Ward's opinion on enforcing the parking lot. Killion said police chiefs in the past have not liked having to pull Title 39 duty.
5) Resident Boyd Loving reported to the council that he noticed while walking with his wife and granddaughter that there weren't any playgrounds aroud the CBD (unless one were to go to the Village Hall area). He suggested the council explore possibly putting something small (like a slide, he said) that could be established at Van Neste Square Park.
