Two Downtown Ridgewood Businesses Badly Damaged In Overnight Fire

The buildings housing Bagelicious bagel shop and Mediterraneo restaurant were damaged when a fire broke out on North Broad Street on Sunday.

RIDGEWOOD, NJ — Two buildings were badly damaged and apartment residents were displaced when a fire broke out at 19 North Broad Street in Ridgewood Sunday night.

According to local media reports, the building caught fire before 9:30 p.m. Sunday. The blaze destroyed the building housing Bagelicious bagel shop and spread to a next-door restaurant named The Mediterraneo, ABC 7 reported.

According to NorthJersey.com, around 125 firefighters responded to the fire, and one suffered a minor burn.

Firefighters rescued a woman trapped on the third floor. She was treated for smoke inhalation, the newspaper reported. All told, between 8 and 10 residents were left homeless and will be assisted by the Red Cross.

In a Facebook post, the Village of Ridgewood wrote first responders from Allendale, Fair Lawn, Glen Rock, Hawthorne, Ho-Ho-Kus, Mahwah, Paramus and Waldwick provided aid at the fire.

"Please let’s keep the displaced residents, the property owners, the impacted businesses and their employees in our thoughts and prayers. We always come together to help each other," the village said.
