UPDATED: Vets Field Under Water; Flood Watch in Effect
Flood conditions pooling the village; ducks spotted swimming at Veterans Field.
It's been a night for the ducks though that's little solace for those still recovering from that left basements flooded and rivers and streams shooting over banks.
The United States Geological Survey's gauge of the brook as of 1:30 a.m. Friday has the brook at 4.29 feet, a foot-and-a-half foot over its flood stage level. Similar conditions on late Sunday, early Monday led to flooding of basements abutting the southern end of Veterans Field.
Ducks could be seen swimming behind the backstop of the baseball field off Warren Place late Thursday night.

The rapidly rising brook bent trees in its path behind Stevens Field in the dead of night and a small basketball could be seen shooting downstream. Plantings and trees near the footbridge were damaged and the earth scoured from the weekend's 3.60-inch rainfall.
The Saddle River, which exceeded its flood level by one foot just days before, is at 6.19 feet as of 1:30 a.m. on Friday, less than a foot under its flooding threshold.

Village Hall currently has flood barrier doors set up near the rear entrance facing Vets Field as well as the police station entrance. Numerous village vehicles are at higher elevation on North Maple on Thursday night.
Access to Graydon lots and sports fields susceptibe to flooding have been closed with police tape and village vehicles and PSE&G were seen patrolling the area throughout Thursday night.
Rain totals overnight could reach two inches with another half inch on Friday. The flood watch is in effect through Friday afternoon.
