Village Wants Your Pine Tree for the Holidays

Parks and Rec looking for 45-55 foot tree to serve as the holiday tree at the train station

If you have a splendid, healthy pine tree between 45 and 55 feet, it just might be proudly adorned for thousands as the village's Downtown for the Holidays tree.

The Parks and Recreation Department is seeking a ripe pine to be the focal point of the holiday celebrations at the corner of East Ridgewood Avenue and Broad Street. 

, returning to its familiar sapping ground. The decorated tree had been a staple near the train station for 22 years before the council planted a permanent tree in  to minimize village costs in 2009.

, which featured performances and of course the famous tree lighting, drew thousands and signified something of a revival for the holiday show.

Chamber of commerce members to finance the move back to the train station, and will be covering costs again in 2011.

Those wishing to donate a suitable pine tree can call the Parks Division office at 201-670-5565.
