Water Main Breaks Close Lanes Of 2 Bergen County Highways Friday: DOT
Water main breaks in 2 Bergen County towns on Friday closed several lanes of Routes 17 and 46.
BERGEN COUNTY, NJ — Water main breaks in two Bergen County towns on Friday morning have closed several lanes of major highways.
Just before 6:30 a.m., a break on Route 17 southbound in Rutherford forced the closure of two left lanes out of three, the state DOT said. The break was near Highland Cross Road.
Around 4 a.m., a water main break on Route 46 closed two lanes — one left lane and one right lane. The break was east of the Hackensack River Bridge in Ridgefield Park.

The DOT said at 7:42 p.m. that both of the lanes were still closed due to the break.
Veolia Water said around 9 a.m.: Traffic Alert: Veolia is repairing a leak on State Rt. 17 North at Borough St. in Rutherford. The southbound fast lane, northbound fast lane, and middle lane are currently closed. We appreciate your patience while our crews complete the repair."

Police said early in the morning that no timeline had been given for the repair.
Water main breaks had closed portions of both highways earlier this week, as well.
