Wednesday: Council Meets, Magic Happens at Woman's Club

1) It's spring cleaning time in the village as it prepares to present its budget to the taxpayers. The budget will increase anywhere from 5.2 percent to 7.4 percent though the latter option will return laid off workers into the fold. The council will also has a few ordinances on the agenda, the most notable being the parking changes in the Central Business District. An old 'favorite' is also appearing – the COAH ordinance Village Planner Blais Brancheau drafted, which will set the parameters of affordable housing in the village.

2) In case you didn't know, it's National Library Week. So take advantage of the great library in the village by taking out a book, grabbing a film or attending one of the library's great events. Movie Homeward Bound (a kids classic) will be playing at 1:00 p.m. and a book discussion on The Help, a book by author Katherine Stockett at 7:00 p.m.

3) Magician Ted Bogusta, the owner of Martinka & Co in Midland Park, , both a retail store and small 'museum of magic'. Bogusta will be presenting this information at the Ridgewood Woman's Club at 11:30 a.m. It will cost members of the club $15; non-members $20 and $5 for non-members only wishing to see the program. The event will also feature a catered lunch from Midland Park's La Strada deli.

4) A Mano is having its . Guests can indulge for $15.00 per person, $7.50 for children under the age of ten (unlimited soda included; tax and gratuity additional). Regular dinner service will also be offered on Wednesday evenings.

5) The last could have been the last but organizers have told Patch that it will go at least another week as new ownership takes shape and renovations appear likely.
