Wednesday: Tango From Buenos Aires to Ridgewood

Or hear some singer/songwriters for RCC's open mic night

1) Fancy yourself as a dangerously suave tango dancer? If the answer's no, maybe you might want to fix that. . The live music dancing will be between 9 p.m. and midnight. The lesson is $10 per person, or $15 if you stay the whole night and enjoy the music of  Tito Castro, JP Jofre, Juarena, and other tango artists.

2) Swirl yourself something different if you want music and that's not your thing. led by host Andrew Nieporent (sometimes known as 'the Mayor of East Ridgewood Ave'). Open Mic Night starts up at 7:00 p.m. so grab a gourmet coffee and groove away 'til the clock strikes 9:00 p.m. The event is free.

3) The library will be hosting another lesson on with software business owner and mobile device junkie Denny Kwon. Kwon, a former math teacher, will be teaching beginners how to create aps at 6-8 p.m. Price for the whole set of classes – $1,250.

4) The school board voted to approve October 17 through October 21 as School Violence Awareness Week, in accordance with the law. A public hearing on school violence awareness–including a report on school violence and vandalism as well as reports on instructional programs developed to reduce incidents, will be held at the October 24 BOE meeting.

5) Teachers heading to B.F. kids' houses on an as-needed basis receive between $56 and $58 an hour, according to an item approved by the school board Monday night.
