Wednesday: Tiger in the Kitchen at Bookends

Cheryl Lu-Tien Tan will be at Bookends; council meets, parking ordinance takes effect

1) The Ridgewood Village Council will be hanging out at 7:30 p.m. for its work session at Village Hall. On the agenda is a discussion on the upcoming budget (to be voted on next week), the supervisor salary ordinance, the possibility of changing elections to November, and the stray shopping cart problem (in ordinance form!).

2) The new parking rules are officially in effect June 1, so to the CBD.

3) Registration for the next session of YWCA programs begins next Monday on June 6. Classes, which run from July 27 through August 20, include swim lessons, agility and speed training for middle schoolers, and kickboxing for adults. 4) Kiss that good weather goodbye! There's a 50 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms, mainly after 11 a.m. according to the National Weather Service.  Some of the storms could produce small hail and gusty winds.

5) Fashion and food writer Cheryl Lu-Lien Tan will be at Bookends at 7 p.m. promoting her new book A Tiger in the Kitchen, a book detailing Lu-Tien Tang's food roots back in Singapore. The Wall Street Journal writer has appeared on Rachael Ray, The New York Times, inStyle Magazine and many other publications. She'll sign autographed copies of the book at everyone's favorite local book store.
