Week in Review: District Says 'Vote Yes to Our Budget'

There weren't a whole lot of government meetings this week, but the restless village still had enough things going on in spite of the weather.

In case you missed what went down this week, catch up here with our top seven stories of the transition from March to April.

1) The school board and it is asking taxpayers to follow on April 27 when ballots are cast. Each member laid out their own argument for approving the budget, which will increase taxes for the average resident by $191, but some reminded the district that two major costs still are up in the air – many staff salaries are undetermined, as is the district's health insurance costs.

2) Deputy Mayor Tom Riche spent Thursday morning with Fox & Friends co-host Steve Doocey and throughout its service area in New Jersey. The deputy mayor again said he was no fan of the large solar project but PSE&G said some of his statements "were inaccurate".

4) Neighbor of the high school fields Tom Kossoff and Superintendent of Schools Dr. Daniel Fishbein after a Field Turf representative gave the district his take on how things are and will be holding up. Still, referendum projects (by and large) are going well. The district is at least $2.9 million under budget and this vote to pay off some of the bond, revisit some of the original projects or introduce a new project (via referendum) outside the scope of the $48 million project.

5) The school board on Sunday night, where the lights stayed on until 9:00 p.m., three hours later than they should have. There was an inputting error on the part of the lighting subcontractor, the district reported.

6) An East Ridgewood , police said. The office currently houses medical offices and the Venn Center. An undisclosed amount of cash was taken.

7) by spring of 2012. The village is currently exploring how to best equip the sand-bottom pool with ADA-compliant ramps or lifts with the help of the disabled community.
