Week in Review: Villagers Charged in SWAT-Related Bust; Preserve Graydon Not a Fan of 'Wibit'

A weekly recap of the top stories.

We match the week's seven days with our top seven stories, and this week includes a few doozies, including drug busts and a few shocking items – some are mad after the fields flooded (again) and others have strong opinions on Graydon's new 'Wibit Wars'. OK, so maybe those aren't very shocking. But that's not all we have this week, so take a quick gander.

1) A number of young villagers face charges relating to a that police say yielded drugs, cash and a weapon. A 21-year-old Ridgewood man, "Hitman" Mark Miller was charged on weapons and drugs counts inside the house while a 19-year-old girl, Kelsey Halloran; and 18-year-old high school senior Natalie Aguado face marijuana possession charges. Police say the pair of women were arrested leaving the home earlier and charged with possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia. Among those arrested is a man on parole in New York for manslaughter.

2) The Preserve Graydon Committee and representatives of the grassroots preservationist group said that money should better be spent on making the water cleaner and clearer.

3) The council said it's asked for compliance but had no other choice. Now, it will be be revising the sidewalk dining ordinance for 2012 and the mayor and deputy mayor will be have the proper amount of tables and afford clear passage for pedestrians.

4) A grand jury accused of filming him sexually involved with another man without his consent and transmitting it on the internet. Clementi tragically leapt to his death and his story garnered international attention. Ravi could face significant jail time for invasion of privacy charges with bias, as well as destroying evidence and witness tampering.

5) Along with some concerned and compassionate motorists and neighbors, Patch helped , rescuing a grey-horned owl from the busy Lake Avenue rush hour traffic. The bird was taken to The Raptor Trust in Millington, where it will hopefully hoot and holler for a long time.

6) this past weekend after a few inches of rain left impressive looking 'wrinkles' and flooding. We asked the superintendent of schools, Dr. Daniel Fishbein on multiple occasions for answers on costs and procedures. The only response given was "we are cleaning the fields". Fishbein told The Ridgewood News later in the week that the district would be doing some of the cleanup in-house but did not disclose any information on costs.

7) , the council said at its work session. The council will soon have an ordinance designed to force compliance from supermarkets that do a less-than-stellar job of making sure its carts remain on its property. The village will be charging costs for storing and picking up the carts. If the supermarkets don't come, it will be processed for recycling.
