What Super Bowl Events Should Ridgewood Host in 2014?

On Thursday, NFL Chairman Roger Goodell and New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg outlined the run up of events to Super Bowl XLVIII.

The game will of course be played at Met-Life Stadium on Feb. 2, 2014 and hundreds of thousands of people are expected to descend on North Jersey/NYC.

There has been talk on how to cash in on the game here in Ridgewood.

"It is estimated that the 2014 Super Bowl will bring in $550 million of revenue to the local economies in Bergen County," village volunteer finance committee "The Tiger Team" wrote. "It is a week-long experience that provides an opportunity to create memorable visitor and fan experiences, while maximizing economic value to Ridgewood. Many municipalities in Bergen County will benefit from the 2014 Super Bowl and we believe that Ridgewood can be a 'go-to' location for visitors and fans, if we plan properly and create the right opportunities."

The committee recommended a focus group comprised of residents, officials and chamber members start planning.
