Woman Killed By NJ Transit Train In Bergen County Wednesday
A female pedestrian was struck and killed by a NJ Transit train early Wednesday morning, the agency said.
BERGEN COUNTY, NJ — A female pedestrian was struck and killed by a NJ Transit train in Bergen County early Wednesday morning, according to the transit agency.
The woman was struck around 1 a.m. just west of Rutherford Station by a train heading from Hoboken to Port Jervis, N.Y., a spokesperson said. The Port Jervis Line train had left Hoboken around 12:39 a.m.
There were no reported injuries to the 22 customers or crew on board, the spokesperson said.

The strike occured near Paterson Avenue, the spokesperson said, which is near the Carlstadt border.
The transit agency sent an alert saying the train, due at Port Jervis at 3:15 a.m., was canceled. Trains were back on schedule in the morning.

NJ Transit police are leading the investigation, the agency said.
