BERGEN COUNTY, NJ — World Market, a San Francisco-based store selling artisan goods, food, and decor from around the world, will open a 19,265-square-foot store in Bergen Town Center this year, Urban Edge Properties announced Monday.

The company has signed a long-term lease for the ground level store at the mall, located on Route 4. The store will join HomeGoods, Marshalls, Burlington, and Target, "expanding the property’s selection of gifts and décor," the real estate firm announced.

The store will be the company’s first in Bergen County, and will be located next to the covered parking garage. There are also World Market stores in Livingston, Shrewsbury, and Woodland Park.

The company was launched near San Francisco’s Fisherman’s Wharf in 1958, the property owner said, noting, "World Market quickly became a destination for those who craved original and handmade items from around the world. Today, the company continues to search the world for unique artisan goods and handicrafts, international food favorites and design inspiration for furniture and home décor.

"The store includes a focus on value and affordability so that their products are accessible to anyone who wants to create a unique home environment."

Leigh Lyons, the senior vice president of leasing for Urban Edge, said, “World Market is a terrific tenant to join the gift and home line-up at Bergen Town Center. A popular store of this size will draw new customers to the property where they’ll find many choices and complementary shops.”

Bergen Town Center has more than 11 million visits annually, according to a release. The mall also contains Whole Foods, CVS, Saks Off 5th, Bloomingdale’s Outlet, Kohl’s and Marshalls.

Jeffrey S. Cohen of CBRE represented World Market. Leigh Lyons handled the transaction in-house for Urban Edge Properties.
