County Clerk Promotes Voting at Cherry Hill

Earlier this week, Cherry Hill School students met with Bergen County Clerk John S. Hogan about the importance of voting and participating in the election process.

“It is important to educate young students about election process and how ‘one vote’ can change the result,” Hogan said in a press release. “This is a great opportunity for them to experience the election firsthand. This can help students to fulfill voter’s duty and responsibility when they become registered voters.”

Each of the students were invited to take part in a "Mock Election" and cast their own vote for President deciding between President Barack Obama and Republican candidate Mitt Romney.

Students were asked if they knew how many candidates for President were on the ballot. When they all responded "2", whic resulted in Hogan pointing out that there are 10 candiates on this year's ballot.

He also informed the students that this will be the first year that election materials will be printed in three languages in Bergen County: English, Spanish and Korean.

A “Mock Election” will be held at River Dell Middle School in Oradell at a later date.
