Bergen Catholic reopens; rescheduled Golden Hawks boys' soccer game

The will reopen tomorrow at 10am for students. Officials have placed a generator on site to provide additional power to the facility. will reopen on Wednesday and follow a Day 6 schedule.

"We anticipate that some very limited areas of the building will continue to experience power interruptions," the River Edge OEM stated in a NIXLE alert. "Students will be relocated to other areas of the building until full service is restored by PSE&G. Streets surrounding the facility were cleared of debris by the River Edge DPW today which will make access to the building much easier."

The Golden Hawks varsity boys soccer game against Pascack Hills in Montvale has been rescheduled for Wednesday, 4pm on the Cowboys' home turf.

According to the PSE&G outage map, there are up to 500 homes in Oradell without full power and between 500 and 2,000 homes in River Edge waiting for complete restoration.

As of this afternoon, PSEG reported that 85 percent of impacted customers had their power restored, while 87,000 customers remain without power. JCP&L reported restoration to 53 percent of impacted customers, while 180,000 remain without power. Expectations hold for 95 percent of utility customers to see power restored by the end of the day Thursday. Both JCP&L and PSEG are prioritizing their power restoration efforts on schools and nursing homes first.

“While there are still New Jerseyans without power, the storm response activities by PSEG and JCP&L continue to make progress. Expectations remain that 95 percent of utility customers will have their power back by the end of the day Thursday,” said Governor Chris Christie in a press release. “To assist in the restoration effort, resources from the Department of Transportation are out on the roads supplementing the utilities’ efforts, primarily in Morris County, to clear county and municipal roadways. We will continue to offer all of the assistance we can to ensure that every New Jerseyan gets their power back as quickly as possible.”

PSE&G has 262 crews and troubleshooters, 116 line contractor crews and 212 tree crews working to restore power. In addition to its own crews, the utility is receiving assistance from out-of-state crews from Pennsylvania, Maryland, Ohio, New York, Indiana, Michigan, Georgia, Florida, Mississippi and Alabama.
