New Administration Named for Oradell Public School

After being thrown a curveball last week with news that Principal Scott Ryan would be retiring in August prior to the start of the school year, the Oradell Board of Education announced their new administrative staff on Wednesday night. Along with Ryan, will also be losing the services of Assistant Principal John Norton who will be taking a similar position in a different district.

Instead the district will continue to have Thomas Santagato serve as Director of Special Education and Student Support Services and welcome four new administrators to their new positions.

Anne Facendo who was named as the for the Superintendent's job will now enter the district in a dual role as Superintendent/Principal, although her official hire is still pending final approval by Executive County Superintendent Dr. Robert Gilmartin.

With 25 years of experience as an educator, Facendo will be leaving Middletown Township  having served as principal along with  and supervising the Humanities Department at High School South. She was a classroom teacher in Lakewood and Red Bank, the literacy coach at  and then spent  at   in Middletown before moving up to the middle school post. She holds an undergraduate deree in Elementary Education from Chestnut Hill College in Philadelphia, PA; a Masters in Elementary Education at Mary Grove College in Detroit, Mich., and is currently atttending Kean University for a Ed. D. in Educational Leadership.

Stepping into Norton's role as Assistant Principal will be Megan Bozios how has spent the past 15 ears teaching grades one, three, four and five at in Ridgewood.Having taught staff development courses in Literacy, Technology and Mathematics and helping write and evaluate curriculum, Bozios earned her undergraduate degree at Bucknell University in Lewisburg, Pa.,, her Master's in Curriculum and Instruction from Teachers College at Columbia University in New York, NY., and a Masters in Educational Leadership from the College of Saint Elizabeth in Florham Park.

The role of Supervisor of Instruction will be split between Sarah Bright for grades kindergarten through three (also partially serving Pre-K) and OPS' Kevin Stokes for grades four through six. 

Bright spent five years teaching grades one through three in the West-Windsor Plainsboro district and the past year at Riverside Elementary in Princeton as a K-5 Literacy Coach. She holds undergraduate degrees from Rutgers and Kean Universities, a Masters in Curriculum and Instruction from Kean, a Masters in Literacy Specialist from Teachers College and is currently finishing her Masters in Educational Administration from Rutgers.

Stokes, who will be leaving the sixth grade classroom where he has spent the past seven-and-a-half years, will work alongside Bright. He has served as  the Lunchroom Supervisor, NJASK Prep Instructor and Workshop Facilitator, Geography Bee Coordinator and Safety Patrol Leader over he years at OPS. He earned his undergraduate degree in Communications from Ramapo College, a Masters in Elementary Education from Nova University and is in his last year of his Masters progrma in Educational Leadership from Ramapo College.

Because Stokes will be moving up to the administration level at OPS, the Board and Interim Superintendent Dr. Jeffrey Feifer will begin searching for a sixth grade classroom candidate.

Based on Gov. Christie's Superintendent Salary Cap, Facendo could earn up to $145,000. Bozios would earn $90,000 while Bright and Stokes are set to each receive $77,500 annually.

Ryan, who has served OPS for the past 21 years will be honored by the district at the September Board of Education meeting.
