Few towns in Northern New Jersey can boast of the historical significance of a Revolutionary War battleground in their backyard, but if things continue as they have, River Edge may be facing the loss of the Von Steuben House. Legislation was approved in 2009 to transfer administration of the Steuben House and surrounding parkland from the Department of Environmental Protection to the Commission once a  and adopted in September 2010. Years later and the , even though the Commission for the reopening of the Steuben House for school groups and the public in general.

Bergen County's furry four-legged friends will be getting a new place to romp by this fall as construction work on a dog run at   will begin in July. The $50,000 project includes fencing, benches and running a water line to provide refreshment for the canine customers, in a secluded spot near Parking Lot 4 in Area E which is not far from the S.O.S. Gardens and Continental Avenue entrance in River Edge.

Freshman Crusader Earns Verbal Offer from Rutgers

Bergen Catholic's Jarrett Guarantano hasn't even started his first year in the red and gold and has already earned his first college offer - this one from Rutgers. The 6-foot-3, 180-pound Guarantano, a Lodi resident, received his verbal offer last weekend after participating for the Crusaders in the Rutgers Seven-on-Seven competition although he is not expected to be a varsity starter this fall.

Family's old films offer view of North Jersey in bygone era

When Marion Sansone died in 2009, at the age of 90, it was left to her only child, David, to manage the family home on Ross Avenue where his mother had lived for nearly 70 years. David Sansone, now a River Edge resident, and his 27-year-old son, Jay, a New-York-based videographer, spent weeks in the empty house, sifting through the clothing, papers and mismatched dishes that had accumulated over the decades. One day, feeling his way around a low, dark shelf behind the boiler, Jay Sansone found a stack of records and between them, a box of 8mm and 16mm film reels along with a 1938 projector.

River Edge native shooting for a future in film

Like many recent college graduates, Tom Basis is just trying to "figure out the next steps." But the River Edge native already knows what his ultimate goal is: to produce and direct films. A 2008 River Dell High School graduate, Basis received a bachelor's degree in film production from the Film, Video and Animation Department at the School of Visual Arts (SVA) in May.
