Oradell Police Urge Residents To Dump Unwanted Medicine Saturday

ORADELL, NJ — Oradell police officers are urging residents to dispose of their unwanted medication Saturday.
Saturday is National Day of Awareness of Prescription Drug Abuse and Disposal, an initiative that encourages people to properly dispose of unused, unwanted, and expired medications as a way of preventing substance abuse.
The Oradell Police Department has a medication disposal drop box at its headquarters. They may drop off medication 24 hours a day.

"With New Jersey in the midst of an opioid epidemic, it is vital residents safeguard their home by securing their medicine and safely disposing of unused, unwanted, and expired medicine," police said.
Police said that more than 2.7 million opioid prescriptions were dispensed in New Jersey during the first half of 2019, and there have been 1,928 overdose deaths.
