River Dell Alum Brings New Musical Comedy to Off-Broadway

Move over Joe DiPietro as fellow River Dell Regional alum David Rossmer brings his off-Broadway musical comedy "The Other Josh Cohen" to the SoHo Playhouse Theater through Nov. 11.

Rossmer teamed up with writer Steve Rosen to pen their tale about a good guy plagued with a streak of bad luck. In the comedy, Cohen (portrayed by Rossmer) returns home on Valentine's Day to discover his apartment was broken into and everything stolen but a Neil Diamond CD. Six days later a mysterious letter arrives in the mail that changes his life forever.

Both men actually portray Cohen, just at different stages in his life, from the present to years earlier. Rossmer and Rosen interact with one another on stage, all to the backdrop of a Neil Diamon record.

Rossmer's acting chops originated during his time at Roosevelt Elementary School. He continued acting at the ACT II theatre workshop in Glen Rock and during the summer months at the French Woods performing arts camp in New York. He starred in numerous roles onstage at River Dell High School before moving on to Penn State University where he earned his B.A. degree in theater. 

Featured in the New York Musical Festival last year, the production also stars Hannah Elless, Vadim Feichtner, Ken Triwush and Kate Wetherhead.

The Other Josh Cohen is directed by Tony Award winner Ted Sperling (Dirty Rotten Scoundrels, Light In The Piazza, South Pacific) with choreography by Andrew Palermo and musical direction by Vadim Feichtner 

Tickets can be purchased online at sohoplayhouse.com. Showtimes are Wednesday, Thursday and Friday evenings at 8 PM; Saturdays at 3 and 8 PM; and Sundays at 2 and 5 PM.
