New Jersey Monthly looked at several factors to determine the rankings, including average tax bills, the average change in tax bills since 2016, median home prices and their changes since 2016, the crime rate per 1,000 residents, and local high schools' rank by New Jersey Monthly. River Edge was ranked No. 62. Oradell was ranked No. 100. The median home value in River Edge is $499,000, a nearly 17 percent increase since 2016. The average River Edge tax bill in 2018 was $13,141, or 3.8 percent greater than in 2016.The median home value in Oradell in 2018 was $607,500, or 6 percent higher than it was in 2016. The average Oradell tax bill was nearly $15,000 in 2016, or more than 6 percent greater than it was in 2018.New Jersey Monthly, now in its 43rd year, is considered an authority on life in the Garden State.
