Week Ahead: First Annual Turkey Bowl and Council Meetings

Welcome to the "Week Ahead," a weekly column that highlights what is coming up this week in RiverDell.

With a Republican majority on the dais, Mayor Margaret Watkins enters her lame duck session on Monday when the River Edge Mayor and Council hold their first meeting since the Nov. 8 election. The evening begins with a 7pm work session followed by an 8pm regular meeting at .

The Oradell Mayor and Council will convene a 7pm public meeting at on Tuesday night.

Bergen County senior soccer All-Stars will take to the pitch one final time this fall in a showdown at on Wednesday, 7pm. The game is organized by the Bergen County Boys Soccer Coaches Association for the fourth year in a row. The senior athletes will be split into the Blue team and White team.

Before you start cooking on Thursday for Thanksgiving, hop over to for the first ever between the Crusaders and Paladins. Kick-off is 10:30am with both sides coming off the Non-Public Group 4 semifinals.

Have Clause at on Saturday morning from 9am to 12pm. The annual event includes a breakfast buffet, face painting, music and dancing.

Later on Saturday night, four-time Grammy and American Music Award winner  will perform live at at 7:45pm. Famed for such hits as “The First Time I Ever Saw Your Face,” “Where Is the Love?” and  “Killing Me Softly With His Song”, Flack will be joined by local musical artists, , among others.
