Week Ahead: Fourth of July Festivities, and Annual Car Show

Kick back and relax with the weekly preview for River Dell Patch

The River Edge Mayor and Council will have a short meeting Monday 7pm in Borough Hall to discuss the 2012 Community Development Block Grant applications.

Also on Monday, County officials and representatives from United Water will hold a meeting at One Bergen County Plaza in Hackensack, 7pm to discuss the increase in repetitive flooding in towns along the Hackensack River. The meeting is expected to give mayors and residents a chance to talk about flooding issues and the affect of repetitive flooding on their towns. 

River Edge begins its Fourth of July celebration on Tuesday with the , 7:30pm at . While enjoying the concert, with music by Jeanie Marie, you and your family may dine at the picnic tables with food provided by the food vendor beginning at 6:30pm.

For the holiday itself, begins at 9am on Oradell Avenue at Third Street, proceeding west to Maple Avenue to Ridgewood Avenue to Kinderkamack Road to Oradell Avenue ending at Memorial Field. Ceremonies and games for children will take place at Memorial Field. Boy Scout Troop 36 will be selling hot dogs and beverages during and after the ceremonies, please support their efforts. 

River Edge Grand Marshall Bob Levine will from Wayne and Bogert Avenues to honor all military veterans.  The parade ends at the reviewing stand in and is followed by the at 12:30 PM-4:30 PM. While enjoying the Fair dine on the food provided by the Knights of Columbus. The Fair will include amusements for children provided by Moonwalk Entertainment, a face painter and a tatoo artist. The Jumpin Dragons Band will provide Classic Rock.

The and the Friends of R.E. Library will co-sponsor their next event,  featuring the Next Stage Ensemble, of the New Jersey Shakespeare Theater. They will be performing "The Winter's Tale" on Friday from 7-8PM on the back lawn of the . Bring a lawn chair or blanket. In case of inclement weather, the performance will move inside the Library.

The will be held on Sunday from 8:30am to 3pm on Continental Avenue in River Edge. The Annual Car Show draws about 200 classic cars and visitors mostly from all over Bergen County.
