What is the Open Space Referendum?

The Open Space Trust Fund is a program approved by referendum ten years ago by the citizens of River Edge. By voting yes – your taxes will not increase.

Real property owners in the Borough would continue to be taxed annually at the rate of $0.01 per $100.00 of assessed value not to exceed five (5) years to fund this program (which is equal to $43.60 for a property assessed at $436,000.00)

The average cost per household would continue to be 85 cents per week.

• Safety Surface Wood Chips for playground equipment in Memorial and Brookside Park
• New Pathways at Memorial Park and Brookside Park
• New playground equipment at Little League North
• Replace or repair 26 year old stadium lights at KBG Field
• Hockey Rink repairs
• Handball Court resurface

• $500,000 River Edge Open Space
• $500,000 Bergen County Open Space Matching Grants

Without River Edge Open Space, we cannot apply for matching grant funds from Bergen County Open Space.
