4 Charged In Connection To Rumson Burglary, Attempted Vehicle Theft: Police

The incident occurred in late September when police responded to a home on North Rohallion Dr. for a burglar alarm activation, police said.

RUMSON, NJ — Four people were recently arrested and charged in connection to a September burglary and attempted motor vehicle theft, Rumson Police said Monday.

Asim Key, 20, Rahiem Maldonado Jr., 22, Yashir Philips, 19 and Altamir Thornton, 22, all of Newark, were charged with burglary to an occupied home, receiving stolen property, burglary to a vehicle, criminal attempt (auto theft), conspiracy to commit auto theft and conspiracy to commit burglary, police said.

The incident occurred at 3 a.m. on Sept. 20, 2024, when patrol officers were dispatched to a home on North Rohallion Drive for a burglar alarm activation.

Once police arrived, the homeowner told police that three unknown suspects had fled his property through the back door and that his Porsche was found running in the driveway, police said.

Rumson Police Detective Stephanie Lehner investigated the case and developed four suspects while working in collaboration with Union Township, Livingston, Chatham and Hillside Police Departments.

Three of the four suspects are currently lodged in the Bergen County Jail, while the fourth suspect is in Essex County Jail, according to police.
