Area Man Indicted on Burglary Charges

A local man has been indicted on burglary and contempt charges stemming from a November, 2012 incident during which he allegedly violated a restraining order.

Eduardo Luna-Martinez, 34, of Shrewsbury Avenue, Red Bank, allegedly broke a glass window of another Red Bank home, gaining illegal entry at about 5 a.m. on Nov. 11, according to court documents. In doing so, he had "knowingly violated" a restraining order set by Judge Louis Garippo, the indictment issued by the Monmouth County Prosecutor's Office said.

Luna-Martinez was initially charged with criminal mischief for smashing the window, burglary for entering the property and contempt for the order violation.

After an initial appearance in court in November, Luna-Martinez was held at Monmouth County Correctional Institution, Freehold, on $53,500 cash bail.

He now faces the indictment on one count of burglary, a third-degree crime, and one count of contempt, a fourth-degree offense. 

An indictment does not indicate a conviction. The charges will be answered in a court of law.
