Fair Haven Sailing Organization To Host Memorial Day Open House

Event attendees will be able to learn more about River Rats' sailing programs and enjoy an afternoon on the water. See details:

FAIR HAVEN, NJ — The Fair Haven River Rats, a 70-year-old non-profit, educational sailing organization on the Navesink River, will be hosting a community open house on Memorial Day (Monday, May 26).

From 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m., the public is invited to join the River Rats for their free open house and enjoy the afternoon on the water.

For those interested in sailing, members of the organization will be in attendance to talk about the sailing and membership programs that River Rats offers (including both a junior sailing program and an adult sailing program).

Membership is not required to take part in classes, however, members do receive substantial discounts and have first priority, officials said.

The flagship youth sailing program has trained over 5,000 children to date, and the adult training program allows families to learn to sail together.

“River Rats is an affordable, friendly and welcoming organization whose members are drawn together by a shared love of sailing,” officials said.

The organization also offers mooring space for members, along with berths for kayaks and paddle boards, and popular seasonal social events such as sailing races and BBQ nights.
