Fair Haven Sailing Organization Kicks Off Summer Racing Season
As the summer season continues, sailors are once again taking to the water each Wednesday for races hosted by the Fair Haven River Rats.

FAIR HAVEN, NJ — The Fair Haven River Rats are off to the races as they kick off the summer racing season.
Following the successful conclusion of the Fair Haven Mayor’s Cup on July 5 (race management for the junior division races was provided by the River Rats Race Committee), sailors are once again taking to the water each Wednesday evening for River Rats races.
With boats skippered mostly by junior sailors from the organization’s youth sailing program, the River Rats’ races aim to provide a learning opportunity as well as summer social enjoyment (a barbecue also follows each race).

To date, River Rats’ flagship youth sailing program has trained over 5,000 children, according to organization officials.
“It is amazing to watch them race and maneuver their 420s and optimists,” River Rats Skipper Jill Lynch said of the youth sailors.
