RUMSON, NJ — Join Waterspirit to learn to make your own taper candles the old-fashioned way.

The environmental and spiritual organization says participants will dip candles, listen to festive music and enjoy the gathered company.

The program will take place Thursday, Dec. 8, from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at the Waterspirit headquarters, 4 E. River Road. The price is $30 per person.

The event is all part of the organization's "make instead of buy" concept.

"When I make gifts for someone, instead of buying, I am focusing on that person. I infuse my best intentions for them into the gift I have created," says Program Manager Anne Price.

"As I dip a wick into candle wax, I am thinking of someone. Does that someone need more joy or more peace in their life? I will focus on them and tell them how much they mean to me. So when they burn the candles, they may remember the wishes I have intended. My hope is they know and feel my supportive thoughts when they use their gifts. I offer my friends encouragement whenever possible, hoping they may continue their own good works daily," she adds.

All materials will be provided to make and take home your own hand-dipped candles that can make great gifts. Buy an extra ticket and bring a friend to enjoy the evening together.
