Mostly sunny skies are expected to hit New Jersey this weekend, with a chance of showers on Saturday. Here's what to expect.

JERSEY SHORE - Spring is now in full swing and nicer weather is expected to hit New Jersey this week, bringing temperatures up to the high 70s and mostly sunny skies.

According to the National Weather Service, Friday will start off the weekend with sun, a high of 68 and light winds between 5 to 10 mph. Saturday may see showers in the early morning and afternoon, while Sunday will serve as the perfect beach day with sunny skies and a high of 78 degrees.

Temperatures are expected to hover around the mid-70s all weekend, according to the service.

Saturday: A slight chance of showers before 8 a.m., then a slight chance of showers after 2 p.m. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 72. Southwest wind around 5 mph. Chance of precipitation is 20 percent.

Saturday Night: A slight chance of showers and thunderstorms before 2 a.m. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 62. Chance of precipitation is 20 percent.
