No Overnight Parking for the Winter Months
Both Rumson and Fair Haven have ordinances that prohibit overnight parking on the street overnight to ensure proper snow removal.

Although the weather has been sunny and warm, December 1 is the start of no overnight street parking in Rumson.
The borough developed this ordinance to ensure efficient snow removal in the winter months.
“Car in the street during the winter effect plowing and salting operations. Night time is the most difficult, visibility is low and we need to remove all the snow from the roads before it become imposable to move,” said Mark Wellner, superintendent of the .

The sent out an alert to residents today that explained that parking is prohibited on any borough street or parking lot between the hours of 3:00 a.m. and 5:00 a.m. effective December 1st through March 31st. They also put warning notices on any vehicles parked on the street last night.
Fair Haven’s over night parking ordinance is even longer. There is no parking on borough streets from November 1st through April 1st.

Borough officials say that if you have to park on the street overnight, it is not a problem. "If someone is going to have an overnight guest, they need to contact the (732-747-0991) and advise when the guest will be visiting with make, model and license plate number," explained Allyson Cinquegrana, Fair Haven Borough Clerk.
