One of Two Public Terminals in New Jersey
During a trial period at the library, the first users were job seekers utilizing Bloomberg’s job postings, instant messaging, and networking features to reach potential employers. Students researched projects, and patrons used financial data and expert analysis for investment portfolios. The Terminal at OFL fills a void as one of two publicly accessible terminals in New Jersey. “Offering Bloomberg at OFL provides our patrons access to a platform not readily available to people outside of college and private high school campuses or their employment,” said Board Member Teresa Sperber. “It levels the playing field and provides access for all to a powerful tool and incredible financial technology.”

Board and Community Approve
The OFL Board and Director Wendy Cettina are committed to ensuring OFL remains at the forefront of accessible information while staying dynamic and responsive to the community's evolving needs. Board Member Teddi Smith noted, “By providing access to cutting-edge financial data, offering professional development tools, and expanding our services, the Bloomberg Terminal directly supports our mission and goals of promoting education, growth, and inclusivity. These commitments are what make OFL a treasured resource in our community.”
This investment will enhance OFL’s role as a community center of knowledge and opportunity, according to supporters Clare and Bob Gray. Clare pointed out, “While often associated with finance, this tool offers so much more—benefiting students exploring careers, job seekers desiring a competitive edge, and curious minds researching everything from medical innovations to world events, sports, travel, and beyond.”
Joseph Whitehouse, the first student to achieve a Bloomberg education certificate at OFL, remarked, “Getting a Bloomberg e-certificate was a cool experience–not intimidating–and the access was super easy. The certificate I’ve earned so far was informative and interesting. It’s a great way to learn something new and build my resume.”
Accessing the Bloomberg Terminal at OFL
Due to the generosity of library supporters and the Board’s fundraising efforts, the Bloomberg Terminal is available to all OFL cardholders. Out-of-town residents may obtain a library card for a $35 annual fee. RFH students and teachers may use the terminal with an RFH ID. Appointments can be made in 1.5 hour increments at oceaniclib.org.
