Phone Scams Target Rumson Residents, Police Report

Rumson Police Department crime update shows cases of fraud; one DUI arrest made.

RUMSON, NJ — Two residents were victims of phone scams, Rumson police reported in an update on crime in January:

  • Jan. 9: A Rumson resident reported that she had been scammed over the phone by a subject falsely representing themselves as a bank employee. Officer Brooke Costa took the report.
  • Jan. 24: A Rumson resident reported being scammed into buying gift cards by a subject falsely representing themselves as an employee at her job. Officer James Camilleri took the report.

Also, a resident, age 68, was was arrested by Officer Stephanie Lehner for driving under the influence in the area of Ridge Road and Bellevue Avenue, police said.
