Public Hearing For Rumson-Sea Bright Bridge Project Set
The final hearing on the NJDEP Green Acres Diversion Application for the project will be held via Zoom on July 22.
RUMSON, NJ — Borough residents will have one last chance to voice their opinion on an application that would divert Green Acres parkland from recreation or conservation use.
The New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection (NJDEP) and the borough are holding a final public hearing for the NJDEP Green Acres Diversion Application for the New Jersey Natural Gas and New Jersey American Water Rumson/Sea Bright Reinforcement project. The hearing will take place over zoom at 7 p.m. on July 22.
The project, which was completed in 2017, repaired and improved the Rumson to Sea Bright water main crossing and provided a secondary natural gas main from Rumson to Sea Bright. Part of the mains were installed under a small section of Jumping Point Park, which is Green Acres land.

As a result, a diversion application was filed which would grant a private subsurface easement to the utilities. In exchange, the borough will receive $70,000 in total compensation which will be used for the land acquisition or park improvements within the borough.
