RCDS Hosts the Two Rivers Antiques and Art Show
Monmouth County Historical Association along with art dealers from all over the east coast have donated their collections to raise money for the development of breast cancer detection, diagnosis and treatment.

The will feature the annual Two Rivers Antiques and Art Show starting with a preview tonight and running through the weekend.
The Two Rivers Art/Antiques Show and Garden Tour is the major fundraiser for the Jacqueline M. Wilentz Comprehensive Breast Center (JMWCBC). The money raised from this event goes towards the development of of breast cancer detection, diagnosis and treatment.
According to the event website, the show has been going on for over a decade-and-a-half and has raised millions for their cause: “Now entering its seventeenth year, this unique event draws well over 1,000 attendees and has raised in excess of $2 million since its inception to provide cutting edge technology and the most advanced breast care available to women in our community.”

This fundraiser features both contemporary art and antiques from a variety art dealers up and down the east coast. All these art dealers are supporting the cause during , including the Monmouth County Historical Association (MCHA).
This year, the MCHA will be installing a loan exhibition with a maritime theme.

Paintings by the New York maritime artist James Bard will be shown, as well as other works. Bard, who worked during the mid-1800s, is known for his portraits of steamships. “The Thomas Hunt,” which will be displayed in the exhibition, was built for the Red Bank Steamboat Company and ran between Red Bank and New York City for many years.
This painting have great signigicance for the Two River area as Monmouth County waterways in the nineteenth-century were alive with steamboat travel and trade. Many visitors to the shore resorts arrived by steamboat and local farmers sent their produce to New York markets via steamboat. Keyport was home to the largest shipyard in the state, producing steamboats until it closed in 1881.
This years show will begin with a preview party on Friday, October 14 from 6:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. featuring cocktails, light fare and an auction. The antiques and art show will continue on Saturday, October 15 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Sunday, October 16 from 11:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Tickets are $12 in advance and $15 at the door.
