“Given its resources, Sandy Hook provides unique opportunities for a variety of activities in a safe and healthy environment that is our national park. We are so fortunate to have a national treasure like Sandy Hook in our backyard," Izzo said.
"My family enjoys nature, and we feel strongly about contributing our time and effort to make Sandy Hook the best it can be, both for families today and for generations to come.
"For that reason, I am honored to participate in The Sandy Hook Foundation as a new member of the board, and I look forward to helping further its mission to protect, preserve, and strengthen Sandy Hook’s natural and cultural resources,” Izzo said in the statement.
Sandy Hook provides many resources for park visitors, including outdoor sports and recreation; abundant flora and fauna; historical experiences at Fort Hancock (a National Historic Landmark) - not to mention the miles of ocean and bayside beaches.
