Fanwood resident, Sheri Valle, was diagnosed with lung cancer back in 2001. Valle says she started experiencing hair loss after going through chemotherapy and radiation. “I mean, you don’t think you’re going to survive cancer to begin with, and it’s a horrible experience. Then on top of that, after you finally become a survivor, then you have to deal with the hair loss,” said Valle.

Valle discovered Danielle Grillo who owns Transitions Hair Solutions of New Jersey. Grillo helped Valle find the right permanent, post-cancer hair loss solution. “When someone’s ready and they do not want to remove the hair anymore, they do not want to take it on and off, then they’re ready for a permanent attachment,” said Transitions Hair Solutions owner Danielle Grillo.

Valle said she knew she needed something long-term when she realized her hair wasn’t coming back. I needed something permanent, so I can go back to jogging, and go back to working out, swimming, and doing everything everybody else does, and not have to worry about it,” said Valle.

Grillo says the CNC hair system by Cesare Ragazzi is always her go-to. Grillo is the only hair loss professional in New Jersey who uses the CNC system. “The CNC is an Italian product and it actually means natural scalp contact. It’s made with a special material that duplicates your scalp,” said Grillo.

The CNC is a prosthetic hair piece made by 3D technology to the exact measurements of a person’s head. Human hair is hand injected into the piece. The hair is matched by color, texture, even hair pattern on the scalp. The process takes three months from start to finish. Grillo does the measurements and molds for her clients here in the U.S., but the prosthetic is made in Italy.

“It’s an anti-bacterial, anti-fungal base, and it lets heat pass through, so it’s completely breathable on your scalp,” said Grillo. “ It’s something that can be worn as a permanent attachment with dermatology-tested medical adhesive. Everything that’s coming into contact with your skin and scalp, it’s not bad for you,” said Grillo.

Valle says the first time she saw the CNC system on her head she was floored. “I couldn’t believe when I first saw it from the back, it actually looked like the back of my head did before cancer,” said Valle. “I don’t know how else to say it. I feel more like a woman, I feel like myself again,” she said.

Grillo has been in the hair loss business for more than 20 years and insist the CNC is the most advanced system available. “It’s all the steps that they put into the making this piece,” she said. “If you want something to duplicate your own natural growing hair, it’s a duplicate of that. It’s the closest thing I’ve ever seen to hair growing out of somebody’s head,” said Grillo.

Valle says she’s so happy she found it. “I finally said to myself: listen you survived cancer. What’s this going to do? Just invest in it, and you know, it’s just going to make you happy,” said Valle.
