Interfaith Thanksgiving Service, Thrift Shop's Black Saturday, Hanukkah Wonderland This Week

What's happening this week in Scotch Plains and Fanwood.

Community interfaith Thanksgiving service: The annual Community Interfaith Thanksgiving Service, sponsored by the Scotch Plains-Fanwood Ministerium, will be held on Monday, November 25 at 7:30 p.m. at First United Methodist Church. The Ministerium is comprised of clergy and leaders of Christian and Jewish faith communities in Scotch Plains-Fanwood, as well as leaders of organizations, such as the Jewish Community Center and YMCA, SPF School District, and the elected officials and staff of Fanwood and Scotch Plains municipal governments. The interfaith Thanksgiving service, which is open to the community, has been a longstanding tradition for more than 30 years.  The various houses of worship take turns hosting the service, which features special music, readings, liturgy, and prayer.  Music will be provided by a combined choir from congregations and the community. Monday, 7:30 p.m.

Thank you card writing for teens: In honor of Thanksgiving, teens in grades 6-12 are invited to watch a Thanksgiving episode from one of the Scotch Plains Library's favorite TV shows. Then participants will write thank yous to friends and families who have had an impact on their lives. Monday, 4 p.m.

Black Saturday at the thrift shop: The Fanwood-Scotch Plains Service 
League Thrift Shop, located at 1741 East Second Street in Scotch Plains, will be closed Thanksgiving week from November 26-29.  It reopens on Saturday, November 30, for its “Black Saturday” sales event.  Everything in the store will be offered at 50% off the ticketed price.

Hanukkah wonderland at the JCC: Hanukkah party for the entire family, features latkes & donuts, Chanukah crafts & activities, photo-op with Judah Maccabee, menorah lighting, music. Everyone is welcome. No membership or affiliation required. Suggested donation: $10/person $36/family. Sunday, 1 p.m.
