Introduction to Linux Program
Wednesday, October 29, 2025, 7:00pm

Windows 10 is going away, and may be taking your current computer away with it!
Join us at the Scotch Plains Public Library on Wednesday, October 29, 2025 at 7:00pm for an overview on how the Linux operating system can be installed on your computer for enhanced security, greater customization and control, stability and reliability.
You may know that after October 14, Microsoft will no longer provide free security updates and technical assistance for the Windows 10 operating system. But even if your device does not meet the technical requirements to run on Windows 11, there's no need to worry -- you can install the Linux operating system for free and run it for years to come! With Linux you can get a user experience very similar to Windows, with better privacy and no ads (Windows 11 will include ads).
Computer professional Christopher Riley will demonstrate the process of installing Linux on a selection of laptop computers. He'll also be available for consultation if you undertake the process yourself.
Even if you're not tech-savvy, this demonstration of the straightforward process and results should encourage you to make the move to Linux!
Please log in with your library card number and PIN to reserve your place at this event. You may also register as a guest with your email, or by phone or at the Library
