Plainfield Animal Shelter Floods, Fundraiser Set Up To Help

Somerset Regional Animal Shelter Director Brian Bradshaw came to help and took in over 20 cats from the Plainfield shelter.

PLAINFIELD, NJ — Tropical Storm Ida flooded and devastated the area including Plainfield Area Humane Society(PAHS). After hearing the plea for help, Somerset Regional Animal Shelter(SRAS) Director Brian Bradshaw rushed over and grabbed as many cats as he could.

"I took 20-something cats from Plainfield Area Humane Society since they got flooded," said Bradshaw. "I took a little over 20. I'm not sure how many I just kept taking them."

PAHS, a private 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, lost necessary supplies to care for their animals, two vans and their heating and cooling system, according to a GoFundMe fundraising site set up for the shelter.

Bradshaw said all of the cats he took in will need to undergo medical exams. SRAS, also a nonprofit organization, is also in need of supplies to care for the new animals and any monetary donations as well. To donate to SRAS visit srasnj.org/donate.

Both the PAHS and SRAS need similar supplies including:

  • Bleach
  • Large garbage bags
  • Cat and dog food
  • Cat litter
  • Cat carriers

Donations can be dropped off at PAHS at 75 Rock Ave. in Plainfield or SRAS at 100 Commons Way in Bridgewater.
