Renovation Project Finished, Park Reopened In Union County
The decades-old park underwent its second major enhancement.

FANWOOD, NJ — The LaGrande recreational park was reopened Monday after a reconstruction project closed it for nearly two months.
All of the basketball and tennis courts were resurfaced. New nets, new dual garbage and recycling receptacles, and new benches were also installed on the tennis courts.
Work began on Aug. 25 with the help of a $350,000 grant from the New Jersey Department of Community Affairs. The total cost of the project is yet to be finalized but the grant will cover the work in its entirety, according to Paul Peyton, Public Information Officer for Fanwood.

Mayor Colleen Mahr, along with the Fanwood Recreation Commission and Borough Council, are continuing to mark "the next generation of LaGrande Park." The courts project is the second major enhancement to the more than 25-year-old park in just the last two years.

In February 2023, a new playground was installed that includes additional space, brand new swings, slides, climbing structures and other attractions such as for those with special needs.
