Scotch Plains, Fanwood Runners To Race In 2021 NYC Marathon
See how to watch live as Scotch Plains and Fanwood runners take on the 50th New York City Marathon 26.2 mile race on Sunday, Nov. 7.

SCOTCH PLAINS/FANWOOD, NJ —Runners hailing from Scotch Plains and Fanwood will be among the tens of thousands to tackle one of the most popular road races in the world — the 2021 New York City Marathon on Sunday, Nov. 7.
This year is extra special as it marks the 50th Anniversary of the race. The anniversary was supposed to be celebrated last year but was postponed due to COVID.
The first NYC Marathon took place on Sept. 13, 1970 in Central Park with an entry fee of $1 and a budget of $1,000. Of the 127 registered runners there were 55 finishers.

Now there are more than 50,000 runners from more than 125 countries who will take part in the 50th TCS New York City Marathon course that runs 26.2 miles through the five boroughs of NYC.
Below is a list of the Scotch Plains and Fanwood runners participating. Please note, this list does not encompass the whole field from New Jersey, just runners who have agreed to share their information with media:

Watch the broadcast live on race day on WABC-TV, Channel 7 from 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Pre-race coverage from Fort Wadsworth begins at 7 a.m. Live streaming will be available on the ABC App and ABC7NY.com from 7 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.
